Lockegee Rock is a 0.7 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Clearfield, Kentucky that features a great forest setting and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. This unofficial trail leads to one of the best overlooks in the area – once you get to the top you can see for miles. This is an out and back trail with a steep scramble to get to the top. There are two main ways up. To take the most popular route up, bear to the left of the rock, a very obvious trail will lead you to the final climb up, this is a steep, 20 foot rock climb, but it has hand holds. The second way, bear to the right. just after you pass the first tower, you will be facing Lockegee Rock. While there are several ways to get up on this side, the easiest way is to follow a large ledge around the side of the cliff and gradually work your way up.

Buckskin Trail is a 2.7 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Salt Lick, Kentucky that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. Follows the shoreline of Cave Run Lake, the Buckskin Trail provides a route between Zilpo Recreation Area and the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail, connecting with the interior loops of trails within the Pioneer Weapons Wildlife Management Area.

The Sheltowee Trace is home to horse riders, ATV riders, and has gradually become a popular trail to thru-hike. The Hiker Challenge keeps the trail busy with backpackers and hikers. There are many who thru-hike and section-hike the trail on their own. The STA provides good resources for their support. The trail goes through many scenic areas such as Cave Run Lake, Red River Gorge, Natural Bridge State Park, Laurel Lake, Cumberland Falls State Park, and the Big South Fork Recreation Area.
